Believe in Yourself

Author Unknown

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren’t the way you had hoped they would be.

That’s when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint you and let you down.

But those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself.

There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.

Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are.

So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be.

Because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.

Keep Believing in Yourself I found this story on the internet but believe in its message. We have all got to believe in ourself in order to enjoy what life God has arranged and planned for us.

Eyes of Justice by Lis Wiehl

Wiehl has done it again. She has written another unforgettable book.  In her Eyes of Justice the Triple Threat Club faces their hardest situation yet.  One of their own is murdered and the remaining two members will stop at nothing to catch the murderer.

Their search takes them through adventures and dangers that will leave you on the edge of your seat and turning pages long after midnight.

Again we learn that true friendship is worth fighting for and a true friend will go the distance for each other.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good page turning suspenseful mystery.

I received this book from Thomas Nelson’s BookSneeze program in exchange for an honest review.  The opinions expressed in this review are sole mine.

God Where Are You?

D

My life changed forever on the morning of May 27, 2012.  That is the day I received the worst phone call any mother can ever receive.  “Doretta, Jason is dead.”  Those four words made my heart stop, my world stand still and spin out of control all at the same time.

I stumbled through the next few days in a haze oblivious to everyone and everything around me.  I just could not wrap my brain around the fact that my son is dead.  I stayed busy the next few days preparing for the memorial service.  I made it through the service but after the service I admit I fell apart.  I cried on a daily basis and felt the cold slap of reality.  My son is dead and I will never see him again this side of heaven.

I found my emotions my emotions ran the gamut from denial—this is a nightmare or a sick joke someone is playing on me.  This cannot be true.  After the denial abated, I found myself angry—at Jason for dying and at God for taking my son.  I kept ranting at God, “Why did you have to take my son away from his family?”

One sleepless night as I lay in bed crying and railing at God, I felt loving arms wrap around me and a gentle voice speak to my heart.  “My child, my child I am here for you.  All you have to do is talk to me and tell me your troubles.  Have you forgotten I gave my only son because I love you so much.”  I lay there for what seemed like hours just holding on to God and letting Him hold and comfort me.

The next morning I got my Bible and journal and sat down in my comfortable old rocking chair to have my daily quiet time with my Father.  I did look like a disheveled mess—my hair standing up and my eyes swollen from weeping.  I knew that my Father did not care what I looked like.  He just wanted to spend time together with me.

As I opened my Bible I asked God, “Okay what do you want me to learn today?”  I was led to the book of Psalm, a beautiful book about David-a man after God’s own heart.  I found myself reading Psalm 6.  Today this chapter took on a whole new meaning for me as I read this beautiful Psalm.  My eyes were opened when I came to verse 6.  Here David is crying out to God in anguish.  David’s emotions were raw and he was in such pain.  “I am worn out from groaning, all night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.”

David’s heart is breaking and he is crying out to God.  He is letting his true and honest feelings flood out of his mouth.  He is not afraid to let his honest fears out and let his hones feelings be made known to God.

Then I knew we can be honest with God about our pain and suffering.  He welcomes our brokenness with open arms.  God knows us so well and loves us so much, He wants only the best for us, His children.  God wants us to come to Him in all our anguish because He will always be here for us.  His love is unconditional.

Hospital Hopping

Well friends, I have had a busy weekend.  My daughter and daughter in law were involved in a car accident on Tuesday .  Neither one of them thought they were injured except for being shaken up and sore.

Friday my daughter went to the ER to have her shoulder checked out.  She found out her shoulder was ok but she did have a brain bleed.  So she spent the night in the hospital.  After bringing her home Saturday afternoon, my daughter in law called wanting me to take her to the ER she had been sick all day.  She could not hold anything on her stomach and had a horrendous headache.  When I got her to the ER she passed out right in the waiting area.  She has a concussion plus she is diabetic and her blood sugar was much too high plus high blood pressure.  She is still in the hospital.

Now this is bad enough but this morning while I was visiting her I get a call from my mother.  She was having chest pains at church so she was coming to the hospital in an ambulance.  So I have spent all weekend in two hospitals.

Ok I can hear what you are thinking.  This is not a good idea for a fiction story.  Well, this is not fiction.  It actually happened.  Truth is stranger than fiction.  I have one last request from all my cyber friends.  Keep me in your prayers and send good thoughts my way.

I am exhausted so I am going to try to get some rest before I go hospital hopping again.

Good night all.  Now you should know why my blog is named life on the edge.  I feel as though I am sliding closer to the edge of sanity more and more every day.

Learn from Mistakes

Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, “All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing.”

Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb.”

If Thomas Edison had given up, where we be today?  We don’t learn as much from our successes as we do from our failures.  The only failure is the person who fails to get back up when he is not successful the first time.  If there is something you want to accomplish---don’t give up.  We learned to walk after falling down numerous times—life is the same way.  Fall then get back up.  Don’t let one failure define you.

The Gift of Encouragement–Author Unknown

I found this on the internet.  It is not original—although I wish it was.  I have been going through some bad days myself and I found this.  It is like God is speaking to me.  I want to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to all my family and friends.  It’s not that I don’t appreciate you all but sometimes life gets so crazy I forget what is really important in my life.

Lord, help me to remember each day that other people are on my side and willing to help.  I want to thank all of them now and most importantly I want to thank you for never leaving me.

An accountant who had worked for a business for many years who committed suicide. People wondered why he took his life. When examiners reviewed the company's financial records, not a single

cent was found to be missing. Everything was in perfect order. They couldn't find any reason until they found a note he had written. It said, "In 30 years I have never had one word of encouragement. I'm fed up!"

Everybody wants to be appreciated and encouraged. So let each of us be sure we take our gift of encouragement, strengthen it through lots of practice and use, and take it with us and use it generously everywhere we go. And especially use it much at home.

Even when Jesus healed the ten lepers and only one came back to thank him, he asked, "Where are the nine?"

Folks, encourage one another, say thank you, help a person, smile, give a hug, Listen with an attentive ear. Help put a smile on someone's face today. God Bless. :)

Eternal Investment

If you write upon paper, a careless hand may destroy it.

If you write upon parchment, the dust of the centuries may gather over it.

If you write upon marble, the moss may cover it and the elements may erase it.

If you grave your thoughts with a pen of iron upon the granite cliff, in the slow revolving years it shall wear away and when the earth melts, your writing will perish.

Write then, upon the heart of a youth.

There engrave your thoughts and they shall endure when the world shall pass away and the stars shall fall, and time shall be no more.

For the heart is immortal and your words written there shall live through eternity.

Help Me Follow the Right Road

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.  I do not see the road ahead of me.   I cannot know for certain where it will end.  Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.  But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you.  And I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing.  I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.  And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it.  Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.  I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and will never leave me to face my perils alone.  Amen.
