Church And Political Correctness

Well folks, political correctness has taken a new low. It appears that memorials to George Washington and Robert E. Lee are being removed from Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia because they are making some people uncomfortable and feel unsafe. Yes, you read that right—unsafe.

The problem with this is that Christians are succumbing to the pressures of the political correctness mania that is sweeping the country today. Churches are bowing down to the ideas that people should not do or say anything that will offend someone else. In my reading and research, I have found nothing that will not offend at least one other person. So where does that leave us? Should we let our minds be programmed like robots and not have an original thought or idea for fear that someone might be offended?

The leaders are removing these plaque because they want to create a welcoming environment in the church. Some people believe the plaques are “chasing away would be parishioners. What will the leaders of the church do when the “parishioners” decide that they are offended by the teachings in the bible? Will they remove the bibles and crosses from the church to make people feel more comfortable and “safe”? Will they only preach “feel good” sermons and leave the “heavy” sermons out?

The desire to show tolerance and welcome diversity into the church should not be at the expense of preaching the word.. Lite preaching will not lead to the One that is the creator and King. Just like a snack might quell our appetite for a while we need a meal of substance to nourish our body. In the same way, “lite” preaching may tickle our ears and make us feel good but we need the whole word of God to nourish our soul. What I am trying to say is if a memorial to our first president and a confederate general offends us in church we need to rethink our purpose in attending church.

As always you are free to disagree but I am free to express my opinion. May God bless you all. Just sayig.

An Unjust Justice

The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but

by those who watch them without doing anything.

The verdict in the Kate Steinle murder case stunned and shocked people all across this country. Kate Steinle was a beautiful young woman who was shot and killed by an illegal alien in the sanctuary city of San Francisco, California. It spears the governor and elected officials prefer the status of sanctuary for the illegal aliens over their concern for the citizens of the state.

Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, the illegal alien admitted to shooting Ms. Steinle with a stolen gun. He was a seven time felon who had been deported five times. He stated he came to San Francisco because it was a sanctuary city and he would be safe from deportation there. He was acquitted of murder, involuntary manslaughter, and assault with a deadly weapon. He was found guilty of the weapons charge which carries a two to three year sentence.

This miscarriage of justice is only a part of what is wrong in this country. When the governors and mayors in sanctuary states and cities continue to put illegal aliens above the American citizens more tragedies like this will occur. Americans are constantly bombarded with being called xenophobic, homophobic and Islamophobic when we attempt to stand up for ourselves and our rights. Our leaders today care more about how they can profit from the elites that buy them out than they do about governing and protecting the citizens they were put into office to protect.

It is time for American citizens to stand up and say to these corrupt officials, “We have had enough! We are tired of being made to feel like strangers in our own country.” Politicians who value illegals over citizens have blood on their hands. Not only the blood of Kate Steinle but the blood of all of the citizens that have suffered at the hands of these illegals that are protected by these corrupt politicians.

It is time to get these criminals out of our country, punish the governors and other officials that protect them, drain the swamp and build the wall.

As always you are free to disagree. But, I am free to express my opinion. May God bless you all. Just saying.

Helpless But Not Hopeless

During my morning inspirational reading, I came across this devotion that is an encouragement to me.  Amidst all the tragedies and heartache in the world today, I found this quote very comforting.

“We may be helpless to stop bad things from happening, but perhaps God leaves us signs and road maps to help us recover and reconnect, provided we know where to look.”

Jennifer Gardner Trulson—Author/Widow from 9/11

Tragedy touches us in the core of our being.  Shock sets in and numbness resides along with fear and sadness in the hearts of many.  Chaos looks as it if it may reign.  However, God waits to comfort those in mourning and walks beside or carries those in pain.  Nothing heals like love.  Look for His signs and road maps for recovery.

My thoughts on this:

With all the turmoil and chaos in the world today, we need to remember that God is close to the broken hearted. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. Sometimes, when I am in the midst of a crisis, I do not always rememeber this promise. Yes, I let doubt and fear enter my heart and color my world with tainted colors. I admit, I sometimes let doubt and fear stay lomger than they should. But just when I am at my lowest, I remember that God is there for me and doubt and fear are kicked out of my heart. I wish I could say that I never let them in. I would like to say that but I can't. I sometimes try to solve my problems in my own strength and find that my strength is not enough.
But when I turn to God and let Him take over my problem, it is solved faster and better than I ever thought possible. No, Hfe doesn't always solve them the way I want but His way is so much better than I could ever hope for.

I learned years ago that when I am knocked to the floor, I am in ther perfect position to pray. So friends, when we find ourselves at the end of our rope, we just need to tie a knot and hang on. God is there for us and will never let us down.

Let’s Take the X Out Of Christmas

Too many people are forgetting or purposely shoving Christ out of Christmas. This is a celebration of His birth. It is not known when during the year is His actual birth but this is the time of the year it is celebrated. Let's put Christ back in Christmas. I do not care if I offend anyone but I celebrate His birth and not the secular version of the holiday.

This poem was not written by me but it does express my feelings about this wonderful time of year. So I just want to say Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus.

Let’s take the “x” out of “Christmas”.

and let’s put Christ in again.

The day’s the birthday of a King,

Not that of an unknown man.

The tinsel the glitter, the glamour,

The noise of the parties gay

Have all but obscured the reason

That we celebrate the day.

We surely would not write “X-ian”

For the Christians here on earth.

Then why do we write “X-mas”

For the day of the Savior's birth?

It’s an honor that really is due Him

O’er that to a common man,

So let’s take “X” out of “Christmas”

and let’s put Christ in again.

Jesus Is the Reason

More and more we are hearing that it is offensive to say Merry Christmas. When we say Merry Christmas, we are offending Muslims and others that do not believe Christmas is a celebration of Jesus' birth. The former president of this country changed Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays and schools could not have Christmas programs or Christmas break. Instead, the programs were changed to Winter Holiday and Winter Break. The recent terrorist who strapped a bomb to his own body and attempted to kill innocent people in New York stated he was so insulted by the Christmas posters and decorations that he decided to carry out the terrorist act. Well, friends, JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THIS SEASON and I will apologize to no one for celebrating His birth.
I just read a comment that called Christians stupid saying Merry Christmas. The writer went on to say that Christmas is a pagan holiday. He suggested we read our bible for a history lesson. I would like to answer him but there was no place to leave a comment of my own. So I will answer him here. Christmas is to celebrate the birth of our savior. It is true we do not know exactly what part of the year His birth occurred. The date is irrelevant, The date does not change the fact that He was born of a virgin. He was born to take away our sins. Yes, today the world has turned this sacred time into a time when the retailers receive more attention than Jesus but that does not change the reason for the season. Yes, I read my Bible and it is all there. The 3 wise men did not stop at Walmart to get a gift for the newborn baby. No Mary did not register at Toys R Us for her precious babe. I just wanted to vent because we live in a time that openly defies any mention of God. If I have offended anyone you can read the entire story of Christmas in the bible. I suggest you read Matthew 1 and Luke 2. I suggest you read the CHRISTmas story for yourself. Now I feel better. I just had to get that said.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY and remember JESUS WAS BORN FOR A REASON.
HE IS THE REASON FOR THIS SEASON.
As always you are free to disagree with me but I am free to voice my opinion. May God bless you all. Just saying.

The First Christmas

I was going through some old poems I had written years ago and found this one.I hope it reminds you why we celebrate this wonderful time of the year.

The Christmas season is upon us
We’re all so cheerful and gay.
But too many people have forgotten
The real meaning of Christmas Day.
Long ago in Bethlehem
A child in a manger lay
For God sent Him to earth
To show mankind the way.
He was born in a lonely manger
There was no room at the inn
He was sent by God in Heaven
To pay the price for our sins.
The wise men came that night
Sharing gifts from lands afar
To see the king that was a born to them
For they had seen the star.
The glory of the Lord came down
While angels sang His praise.
So when you think of Christmas cheer
Remember that first Christmas Day.
MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS AND LET'S PUT CHRIST BACK IN CHRISTMAS.

THE BILL OF NO RIGHTS

I was sorting through some old files and found this. It is not my original writing but it is so appropriate for the times we are living in. I had found this on the internet years ago but have kept it because I find the words so important.

We, the people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid any more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt-ridden or delusional. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that a whole lot of people were confused by the BILL OF RIGHTS and are so dim that they require the BILL OF NO RIGHTS.

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom,l and that means freedom for everyone-not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but the World is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

\ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

Article VII:You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big-screen color TV or a life of leisure,

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to demand that our children risk their lives in foreign wars to soothe your aching conscience. We hate oppressive governments and won't lift a finger to stop you from going to fight if you'd like. However, we do not enjoy parenting the entire world and do not want to spend so much of our time battling each and every little tyrant with a military uniform, and a funny hat.

ARTICLE IX: You don't have the right to a job. All of us sure want all of you to have one, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

\ARTICLE X: you do not the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have to righ5t to pursue happiness-which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an overabundance of idiotic law3s created by those of you who were confused by the BILL OF RIGHTS.

The author of this piece is Unknown. But it does make good points for our country today. It was printed out in 1999 but it still holds true (maybe more so) for today's ills in our country. If you do know who wrote this please let me know so I can give credit to the right person.
