A Praying Mother

I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me.  They have clung to me all my life.

Abraham Lincoln

The young teen was out partying with her friends.  She had had too much too drink and was alone in a car with the school’s “bad boy”.   They started kissing and he began fumbling with her jeans in an attempt to take them off.  She  weakly tried to fight him off but was so intoxicated she couldn’t.  Just as he got her jeans down and started to rape, a bright light filled the car.  He expected to see a cop standing there but when he looked up he saw a huge man dressed in white.  The man had a sword at his side and glowed with a blinding white light.  The boy became frightened and drove the girl home.  When he arrived at the girl’s house he hurriedly pulled her out of his car and drove away.  Her mother heard the car and went to the door.  She saw her daughter lying on the lawn and ran to her.  She then helped her daughter to bed and tucked her in.

The next morning the mother called the girl downstairs for a talk regarding the previous night.  The girl began to cry and tell her about what had happened.  Suddenly she stopped.  “Mom, I remember seeing a bright light and a huge man dressed in white in front of the car.”  The mom sat there with tears in her eyes.  “Darling,” she said.  “I was praying for you.”

As mothers we do a lot for our children.  We make sure they eat to nourish their bodies and we make sure they have clothes to wear.  We send them to school or homeschool them to make sure they receive a good education.  But are we neglecting to give them the most important  protection we can?  Are we praying for them as they go out into the world each day.  This is the most important thing we can do for them—bathe them in prayer daily.  Ask for God’s protection over our most precious resource.  Prayer should be the first thing we do each morning and the last thing we do each night. and all through the day.  It’s not too late to start praying for our children.  A few minutes spent in prayer can make a difference in a child’s life.  The most powerful prayers that reach God’s ears are from mothers pleading on behalf of their children.  A mother’s prayer is powerful because when a mother prays—God listens.

Update

I am sorry I have not been posting regularly.  I have been going through a very rough time.  I am standing in the crosshairs of  some vindictive people who love nothing more than spreading lies and untruths about me.  I am  now in danger of losing the grandkids I have had for their entire lives based on these lies.  I have been working and praying in order to keep these kids.  To the other parties involved, the kids are only collateral damage in this vendetta.  There have been so many trials and obstacles placed in my way I am getting physically and emotionally exhausted.  I do covet any prayers you can offer up on these children’s behalf.  If I do lose these kids, I feel like I will be throwing them to the wolves.  None of these kids want to be taken out of my home.  I am raising them to know and trust God.  They are all at a very impressionable age (9-12).  I pray that God gives the lawyers and judges involved the wisdom to really see what is in the best interest of these children.

I do promise I will post more in the future—bear with me until then.  I know my God is bigger than this problem and He is the one holding me up through all of this.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

I am asking for all your prayers.  I have had custody of my 4 grandchildren all of their lives.  Tomorrow, April 30th, the father of 3 of them is taking me to court for custody of them.  The kids do not want to live with him and are totally stressed out.  I need the prayers of all my friends to soften the heart of the judge and let her see that in best interest of the children, they need to stay in the only stable home they have ever known.  To move them now would put them in new schools, no outside activities (football, music,), and leaving their friends.  I know God is in control but I think prayer makes a difference.  Please pray for my kids.

The oldest is 12 (boy)  a very impressionable age, 10 (boy) and 9 (girl).

Prayer for Tornado Victims

Heavenly Father, wrap your loving arms around the grieving families in Oklahoma. I know whatever happens happens for a reason. I know you loved these children and they are now in you loving arms. Please protect their families from further grief brought by hate groups that falsely call themselves yours. You are a loving and merciful God but also a just God. I ask your protection on all that are hurting today and let your presence be known. Send your angels to stand guard against the enemies of you and yours

A Prayer For Our Country

Father, I come to you today brokenhearted. Such a burden is on my heart for the families involved in the tragedy in Boston yesterday. So many innocent lives were lost for, what in our limited minds, seems to be a worthless act of violence. But you know the outcome and you can turn this around for good, according to your purpose. Thank you that so many people were on ...the scene to help. Wrap your loving arms around them. I pray for the leaders of this country. Turn their hearts back to you because until we put you in the place you deserve--first in our hearts, this country and the world has no chance. We must turn back to you and honor your ways. "For if my people who are called in my name turn back to me and turn from their wicked ways, I will bless them and restore their land."
I ask these things in the name of your precious son, Jesus

Urgent Prayer

Let’s all pray for the victims in Boston.  So much is happening in the world today the best place to be is on our knees.

My Daily Prayer

Lord, I kneel down here to pray.

Please help me make it through the day.

God, I ask with a heart so true,

Help me live my life for you.

Dear Father, up in Heaven above

Fill my heart with thy wondrous love.

When doubts and fears around me assail

Give me the courage to prevail.

When temptations stand in my way

Give me the wisdom to do your will today.

Yes, Lord in Heaven, I beg of you—

Help me do what you want me to

Prayer For Today

Dear Father,

There is so much turmoil in the world today.  Shootings, stabbings, and other murders.  We know you are in control and Your Holy Word tells us these things must come to pass before you call us home.  I pray for my family and friends that they are not deceived by false teachers that preach that the solution to all our problems is to blindly follow.  Your word says there will be “false teachers and miraculous works that will deceive even the elect.

I want to stay grounded in Your word and live in Your plan for my life. Give me the words to say to help bring others to You.

I ask these things in Jesus’ name.

Amen

Daily Prayer

Father,
This is a day you have made for me, and I will rejoice in it. What a wonderful Father you are to create each sunrise and sunset for me. I see your wonderful gifts all around me--the birds singing, the grass starting to turn green-the beautiful flowers that spread their fragrance throughout the land. I know trials will come my way and there are crosses that I will be asked to bear. But I know that with You beside me, there is nothing that will bring me down. You hear my prayers when my cries are all You hear. You have a plan for my life and You will equip me for whatever you ask of me. I want to follow your plan and live my life in your will. I ask these things in Jesus' name.
Amen

Morning Prayer

Father, I come before you today with a heart that is so full of love and gratitude to you. You sent your only son, Jesus, to give me eternal life. I ask your continued mercy and grace over my friends and family today. Keep us under your protective wings and hold us tight. I pray for this great country of ours. May the leaders turn back to you. This country was founded on your laws and mandates. Somehow we have gotten away from the basic principles that formed the foundation for this country. I carry a heavy heart for our country and know the only hope is in you.
I pray this in your sweet son's name. Amen.,

Daily Prayer

Father,

I come today to ask blessings on my friends and family.  You sent your son to die for us so we may have eternal life.  No name deserves our honor and praise but yours.  Help me today to be a blessing to someone else.  I know I can do nothing on my own but I can do anything with you to stand beside me.  Whatever you call me to do I know that you will equip me with your power.  Give me the strength and knowledge I need today to do what I have to do.

Amen

Monday Meditations

Father, I want to thank you for giving me life.  I want to use my time on earth to glorify your name and encourage others.  I am thankful for eyes to see your wonderful creations and ears to hear the birds sing and your still small voice everyday.  I want to be an encourager to all I meet.  I want them to see you in me and want to know more about what I have.

I want to be a testimony to you without words.  I want them to see what joy you bring just by watching me.  Sometimes the most effective sermon is one without words.

Be with me today and give me wisdom and strength.

My Morning Prayer

Father God, I thank you this morning that I was able to see your beautiful world.  The tree leaves are changing and falling from the trees displaying your beauty.  My children were able to go to school and –yes, they did not fight this morning while waiting for the bus.  For this I am truly thankful.

I ask that you watch over my family today as they go and do what they have to do today.  Give me the strength and wisdom to do all the things you have planned for me.  Father, please be with the hurting and broken-hearted in our world.  Open their hearts and ears so they might hear of you and your wonderful love.

I know that you are with me and will never forsake me.  I take great comfort in knowing this.  Let every word out of mouth and every action be a living testimony of you.

Prayer for Today

Father, please shower blessings on my family and friends.  Let my hands pick up someone who is down.  Let my feet willingly travel down the path you have for me.  Let my mouth speak only kind and encouraging words to all I might meet.  Open my heart to compassion for others who cannot see you in the day.  Let my life be an example of your love and mercy.  Grant me the wisdom and strength to make it through this day.

Father I pray for this great country.  Open the hearts of its people, Lord.  You are in control.  I know you will never leave us or forsake us.  I claim that promise now.

A New Day

Well, folks, America has spoken.  We have four more years with President Obama.  I do know that whoever is our president—God is still the king.  He is still in control.

Until next time.  I will continue to pray for this country and its president.

Sandy

We should always be willing to help each other in times of trials and troubles.  It is now time to pray for our friends that are in the path of Superstorm Sandy.  I genuinely offer my prayers on their behalf.  It is a wonderful thought that He will never leave us or forsake us.  Let’s take a few minutes and utter a prayer for everyone in need and whatever “storm” each one is facing today.

Life Has Been A Struggle

Well friends, my life is going in circles these days.  I cannot stop crying over the loss of my son.  Wednesday will be very hard because it is his 35 birthday.  My life will get on an even keel eventually but please bear with me until then.

Please leave a comment and let me know how you handled this grieving process.  I am a social worker and know the stages but wish there is some magical formula to use.  Wait, there is—God’s love and comfort.  I know it will take time.  I guess I hoping I’ll wake up one morning and the hurt is gone.

Please keep me in your prayers and let me know you understand.  I know I can talk openly to you.

Well, my tears are falling on my computer and I can hardly see what I am typing.

But I know that God is holding me up and He is in control,.

A Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith;where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.  O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.  Amen.
